Inhale
Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds
Hold
Hold your breath for 7 seconds
Exhale
Exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds

5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique
Look around and name 5 things you can see
Example: "I see a chair, a lamp, my phone, a window, a book"
Name 4 things you can touch
Example: "I feel the fabric of my shirt, the floor under my feet, my hair, my watch"
Name 3 things you can hear
Example: "I hear birds outside, the hum of the computer, my own breathing"
Name 2 things you can smell
Example: "I smell coffee, the fresh air from the window"
Name 1 thing you can taste
Example: "I taste the mint from my toothpaste, or the salt from my tears"
